I promised some of our vet techs that I would share this video.
This is Teddy. This is the first time that we've seen him in his cart. It is also the first time that we have seen him this happy.
Teddy came to see us about a month ago. It takes his people almost an hour and a half to get to us from their home in West Virginia. (We are grateful to our many clients who travel a considerable distance to see us!)
On his first visit at KVet, Teddy could not use his back legs at all. He just dragged his hind end along, while he pulled with his front legs.
In this past month Teddy has come in weekly for Chiropractic and Laser with me, and Acupuncture with Dr. Harb. We also have sent home exercises for Teddy to do with his people to stimulate the nerves that control his back legs. They have been doing them every day.
When I saw Teddy this week, he was kicking out with his back legs. He is also able to begin to stand up on his back legs, holding himself up off of the ground for short periods.
This is great! Teddy's body is recovering!
Teddy's people were able to find the cart on eBay for a fraction of what one normally costs. They are using it outside to help Teddy go for the longer walks that he really enjoys.
Clearly, we have a lot of work left to do to get Teddy as well as he can be, but the improvement is exciting for everyone involved.
